Great news from Toronto ACORN!

This year is important for the low and moderate income families that ACORN represents.  Two elections are happening that will help define which direction the City and Province will go on a some of our key issues, and our member run organizing committees have plans to make sure that they have an impact.

Their first action was last Saturday. Over 60 ACORN members and supporters braved strong winds and the last moments of winter to launch our 2014 Healthy Homes campaign.  As you know, ACORN has been at the forefront of fighting for livable housing standards for the hundreds of thousands of people living in Toronto’s high-rises. The upcoming election in October could be a defining moment in deciding whether the City finally takes their responsibility to enforce property standards seriously.

Last Saturday Toronto ACORN showed that it would be a mistake for municipal officials to underestimate tenants’ desire for real change.

Here is a great story that CTV aired on Saturday - Check it out here

Did you know that ACORN Canada’s 10th Anniversary Reception is coming up on Thursday, April 24th at 6PM?  It’s taking place at the United Steelworkers Hall at 25 Cecil St near University of Toronto.

Come out and celebrate ACORN’s decade-long success and help us last for decades to come!

Here is some more info about what is happening that exciting night.
