All across Canada, groups are forming to address the critical issue of seniors housing. Senior cohousing is an intentional community — planned, managed, and owned by residents — that blends privacy and community, independence and interdependence. Harbourside Cohousing ( is Canada’s second seniors cohousing community and was designed to help people flourish through mutual support, while they age in place and in community.

Margaret Critchlow is a retired professor of anthropology and a director of the Canadian Senior Cohousing Society. One of the original founding members of Harbourside, Margaret was featured on a CBC Radio documentary about the project, and has given lectures on the evolution of the concept and her work developing this cohousing community.

Convivium Cohousing for Seniors is currently developing a supportive community for older adults and seniors in Ottawa’s core.  Other groups developing seniors cohousing in the broader Ottawa area will also be present at the presentation. Don’t miss this opportunity to meet with people who are working on solutions to living and thriving, as we age together.
