Let’s discuss the LEAP Manifesto! – June 14th 6:30- City Hall

Progressive friends in Ottawa:

 I hope this email finds you well. This is a quick pitch about a community forum being organized soon (June 14) on the Leap Manifesto.

As you likely know, the Leap Manifesto has been widely criticized in the mainstream press, and it’s caused major debates on the left. We think something that controversial deserves more local discussion.

We’ve invited some thoughtful speakers to stimulate our thinking about what the Leap Manifesto means for our community. After brief remarks from them, we’ll open the floor to you.

Our featured guests will include:

- Avi Lewis, filmmaker, The Take (2004) and This Changes Everything (2015);

- Verna McGregor, Kitigan Zibi Anishabeg and Minwaashin Lodge activist;

- Ken Smith, President, Local 707A (representing 3500 Suncor Energy workers in Ft. McMurray Alberta);

- Larry Rousseau, Regional Executive-VP (National Capital Region), Public Service Alliance of Canada.

 Let me know if you can help us — I can be reached here by email, or by phone at 613-869-5952.

With great respect, and in solidarity,

Joel Harden, for Leap Ottawa Saute (a local grassroots movement urging debate on the Leap Manifesto).
