The Ontario Trillium Foundation has provided a $160,000 grant to WETech Alliance and Pathway to Potential to start a social innovation program<http://www.ourwindsor.ca/news-story/5638644-ontario-grant-boosts-social-innovation-in-windsor/> for Windsor and Essex County that will examine the region’s social innovation programming, decide on best practices, create programming and offer resources and space for social innovators.

Futurpreneur Canada is selecting Canadian entrepreneurs (aged 18-39) to attend the G20 Young Entrepreneurs’ Alliance Summit<http://www.futurpreneur.ca/en/initiatives/g20-yea/summit-2015/> in Istanbul, Turkey from September 7- 9, 2015.   Attendees will have the opportunity to engage G20 leaders and policy makers in the cause of youth entrepreneurship and its impact on creating sustainable economic and social change.  The deadline for applications is June 5, 2015.

MaRS Centre for Impact hosted the Second ImpactOntario<http://socialfinanceforum.marsdd.com/> event on May 25, 2015.  The event included a Dragon’s Den style pitch session for social entrepreneurs seeking investment capital.

The Carleton Centre for Community Innovation released a report, The Social Return on Investment of Multifaith Housing Initiative’s Housing Program<http://carleton.ca/3ci/2015/new-report-the-social-return-on-investment-of-multifaith-housing-initiatives-housing-program/>, which examined the program’s impact on its tenants and volunteers.

12 organizations across Canada including social enterprises such as Operation Come Home<http://operationcomehome.ca/>, received $200,000 in grant funding from the Co-Operators Community Economic Development Funds<http://www.stockhouse.com/news/press-releases/2015/05/27/12-canadian-community-based-organizations-receive-200-000-from-the-co-operators>.

Social Enterprise Month<http://www2.news.gov.bc.ca/news_releases_2013-2017/2015SDSI0019-000608.htm> wound down in BC with the hosting of the 2015 BC Social Enterprise Heroes<http://socialenterpriseheroes.ca/> event, where social entrepreneurs made pitches for a total of $50,000 in consulting and grant funding.

(Hong Kong) The Social Innovation and Entrepreneurship Development Fund (SIE Fund) Task Force announced the invitation of proposals from interested organisations to implement the Building Capacity in Food Support Service<http://7thspace.com/headlines/509404/social_innovation_and_entrepreneurship_development_fund___building_capacity_in_food_support_service.html> initiative, the purpose of which is to fill service gaps in the food support service sector in Hong Kong,  and enhance the sector’s efficiency and effectiveness.

(UK) The Guardian carried an article describing the Real Estate Annuity Plan<http://www.theguardian.com/money/2015/may/23/equfund-reap-social-housing-real-estate-annuity-plan-returns>, a mutual fund that lends money to a social enterprise that renovates derelict properties into affordable rented homes for those in need

(New Zealand) The Akina Foundation has joined with the Far North District Council to support local social entrepreneurs through Thrive<http://www.scoop.co.nz/stories/AK1505/S00518/far-north-social-entrepreneurs-set-to-thrive.htm>, a four-month development programme that will offer leadership and business skill building workshops and coaching for individuals with social enterprise ideas.

(USA) The NBCUniversal Foundation announced the launch of the fourth annual 21st Century Solutions competitive grant challenge<http://www.newenglandone.com/news/national/item/1049-nbcuniversal-foundation-opens-round-of-grants-to-local-non-profits.html>, which will award 30 grants totalling $1.2 million to local non-profit organizations that use social innovation to address community challenges with fresh perspectives.

(Switzerland) The Schwab Foundation for Social Entrepreneurship is soliciting applications for its 2016 Social Entrepreneur of the Year Award<http://www.schwabfound.org/content/global-selection>.  The award is open to social entrepreneurs from around the world (with the exceptions of India, France Brazil and Chile); the deadline for applications is June 30, 2015.

The Nonprofit Centers Network and the Social Purpose Real Estate Collaborative will be hosting 2015 Building Opportunities: Connecting Possibilities<http://www.buildingopportunities2015.org/>, a conference on the development and management of nonprofit shared spaces and social purpose real estate, on June 1-3 in Vancouver BC.

The Canadian Community Economic Development Network (CCEDNet) will be hosting a webinar, Clarifying and Simplifying CED to Localize Prosperity<https://ccednet-rcdec.ca/en/event/2015/06/04/clarifying-and-simplifying-ced-localize-prosperity>, on June 4, 2014 that will examine the work that Localise West Midlands has done to change people’s views of ‘community economic development,’ the effective evaluation of CED activities and impact demonstration, and understanding what strategies are working in the UK.
