Update from Ottawa ACORN – 2016 is off to a great start!

Here’s what’s happening city-wide: 

Postal Banking Forum- Tuesday, January 26 7pm at 233 Gilmour – ACORN member Amber Slagtenhorst will be a featured speaker as we are part of this coalition for better public banking options. 

Predatory Lenders: Zoning Now! Vanier members invite you to rally with them on Thursday, January 28 at 12PM outside the Burger King, in the parking lot on Montreal Rd (Hannah St and Montreal Rd). We will march to Money Mart 5 blocks away and we will be surveying people on lending/banking. Members want a minimum distance by-law between lenders and heavy licensing. 

National Day of Action! 

Internet For All: Mock Job Application Action- Tuesday, February 2 at 12PM. 150 Tunney’s Pasture (Statistics Canada building) – With the federal government hiring 35,000 people to reinstate the long-form census, everyone needs affordable internet to apply for jobs! We are holding mock job application action in front of the building and we are releasing our national report in anticipation of the government’s review of the telecom industry.
